GreySales Protected Payment

How GreySales Protected Payments Work

Payments are processed securely through Stripe. The seller's payout is not released when the buyer pays — it is released only after the required collection confirmation is completed and there is no active dispute.

Buying a greyhound

  1. 1

Win an auction, have an offer accepted, or use Buy Now.

  2. 2

    Pay securely through Stripe.

  3. 3

Once Stripe confirms payment, the transaction becomes Payment Secured.

  4. 4

Seller payout is NOT released at this stage.

  5. 5

Buyer and seller can then arrange collection using the existing GreySales contact/transaction flow.

  6. 6

At collection, follow the existing GreySales collection confirmation process.

  7. 7

Only after the required collection confirmation is completed can the seller payout be released.

  8. 8

If there is a problem, do not complete the release/collection confirmation — contact GreySales Support.

Selling a greyhound

  1. 1

    Create your listing.

  2. 2

Complete Stripe payout setup when required.

  3. 3

When the buyer pays, GreySales shows Payment Secured.

  4. 4

Payment being secured does NOT mean the seller has already been paid.

  5. 5

    Arrange collection with the buyer.

  6. 6

Complete the existing GreySales collection confirmation process.

  7. 7

After the required confirmation and provided there is no active dispute, Stripe releases the seller payout.

  8. 8

GreySales retains the existing 2.5% transaction fee.

Only confirm collection/payment release once the greyhound has been physically collected and the handover has taken place.

What the statuses mean

PAYMENT SECURED

Stripe has confirmed the buyer's payment. It is held on the platform side — the seller has not been paid yet.

AWAITING COLLECTION

Contact details are unlocked and both parties arrange the handover.

COLLECTION CONFIRMED

Both buyer and seller have confirmed the greyhound was collected through the GreySales flow.

FUNDS RELEASED TO SELLER

The seller's net payout has been transferred. Stripe bank settlement timing may vary.

DISPUTE UNDER REVIEW

A dispute is open. Automatic seller payout is paused while the matter is reviewed.

A simple example

Sale price

$1,000

GreySales fee (2.5%)

$25

Seller net payout

$975

The buyer pays $1,000 through Stripe. GreySales retains its 2.5% transaction fee ($25), and the seller's net payout ($975) is transferred to their payout account after the required collection confirmation is completed. Stripe's own processing fees are a separate cost and do not change these amounts.

Disputes & problems

  • If the greyhound has not been collected, or there is a genuine issue with the transaction, the buyer should not authorise payment release.

  • The member should contact GreySales Support from their account.

  • An active dispute prevents automatic seller payout while the matter is under review.

  • GreySales can review the transaction, payment status, collection status and communication available within the platform.

  • Refund handling depends on whether the seller payout has already occurred.

  • Each matter is reviewed on its merits — GreySales does not promise a specific dispute outcome.

While a dispute is under review, automatic seller payout is paused. GreySales reviews the transaction, payment and collection status and platform communication before deciding how funds are handled — the outcome depends on whether the seller payout has already occurred.
